HP Officejet 7110 I'm getting a 'Scanner Failure' message on the front display of the printer. I turned the unit on and off as the message goes on to say but 'Scanner Failure' reappears. I'm having the same problem. My machine prints faxes and copies just fine. It's only when we try to print from computer that the lights start blinking furiously and we get the message described. About four print commands later we get this blinking, power message and interruption of printing. Last suggestion from technician was to wipe copper contacts on ink cartridge carrier with 'distilled water and a lint-free cloth'.

I didn't happen to have those things at my desk! So, can't say at this point if this 'solution' will work. I'm skeptical since there seems to be a problem between the computer and the printer. All other functions are printing normally. Has anyone fixed this issue? I got the problem fixed. But I'm guessing that you will not like the answer.

Now a year later. No further problems. I've heard about a lot of paper transport problems with this and closely related models. I have them too: grabs two sheets at once; mutilates the leading edge of the paper occasionally; will not feed any paper at all if tray is over 1/3 full.
